Workshop Future | Career Opportunities for People with Disabilities

Professional skills open up opportunities for more independence and social participation. With our new project, funded together with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), we are supporting 105 young people and adults with intellectual disabilities in northern Lebanon to develop their skills and gain new career perspectives.

Together with our local partner Wahat al Farah (WAF), we are modernizing workshops and equipping them appropriately for practical training and education. The offerings range from food production, textile and woodworking crafts to digital applications, product labeling and packaging, as well as organic farming, gardening, mosaic and ceramic art, and landscape maintenance.

The goal is to empower participants to build professional skills, earn their own income, and lead a more self-determined life. To make the step into the regular job market successful, interested employers are also actively involved in the project.

At the same time, the project strengthens Wahat al Farah itself: By selling the products made in the workshops and expanding marketing and sales, the vocational training programs are meant to become more financially independent in the long term. The project started in August 2026. It all begins with renovating the workshop building—so that step by step, new spaces turn into workshops for new opportunities.
