Impact

When humanitarian measures lead to change in the target group, their living environment or society in general, this is referred to as impact in development cooperation. By measuring the impact of our projects, we can critically evaluate successes and failures.

All our projects are subject to individual measurability criteria, which are defined for each project initiative together with the local partner before the project starts. Regular monitoring is a central element of continuous performance review and ensures transparent and critical evaluation of our project work. Based on this impact assessment, we evaluate whether project initiatives should be extended or whether a sustainable exit strategy should be applied.

For Orienthelfer e.V., impact measurement is an essential part of efficient and transparent project work: our donors and donor organisations can see that their contributions are being used sustainably, carefully and responsibly to achieve the project goals.

Impact measurement

Why is impact measurement important?

  • To ensure that we use our funds effectively and economically.
  • To clearly define what our measures should achieve for the target group before the project begins.

Are our measures appropriate?

  • Were the measures agreed with the target group in advance?
  • Is the situation for our target group improving?
  • Are we setting the right priorities?

Are we implementing our measures correctly?

  • Are we achieving our goals?
  • What have we done well? What can we do better?
  • Have we met the expectations of the target group?

Can we improve further?

  • How can we achieve more with the same resources?
  • How can we achieve the same effect with fewer resources?
  • What should we do differently in the future?
