Building bridges: Community through education

Schools are more than just places of learning – they are places where people come together. Our project, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ), will bring together Syrian refugee families and families from the Lebanese host community in the municipalities of Ghazzah and Kamed el Loz from January 2026 to December 2027.

Together with our local partner, the Society of Social Support and Education (SSSE), we are creating spaces for exchange and mutual understanding through sport, cultural and educational activities. Children, parents, teachers and staff at the educational centres are learning to resolve conflicts peacefully, break down prejudices and see diversity as an asset.

At the same time, we are supporting the schools in promoting social inclusion and respectful coexistence in the long term. In total, more than 5,000 people are benefiting from the project, which is strengthening social cohesion in the communities in a sustainable way.
